The recent three year redo of the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco has transformed the hotel into an immaculate, high style, art deco masterpiece.
The nine-story hotel, set on Nob Hill’s eastern slope, is a regular stop on the California Street Cable Car Line (take the cable car directly to San Francisco favorite TADICH GRILL — a five minute ride). This LANDMARK building borders the city’s Financial District, Chinatown (it is just a few blocks from incredible nouveau chinese joint Mr. Jiu and walking distance to North Beach and the best pizza in America at Tony’s Neopolitan), walking distance to Union Square (Barneys, Neiman Marcus, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc., John’s Grill {Sam Spade’s hangout in the Maltese Falcon} and ultra cool Hakkasan). Both San Francisco International and Oakland International airports are a 25 minute drive from the hotel. It is without a doubt the best located hotel in the city (the TONGA ROOM, the only good thing about The Fairmont, is only one block away!).
There is an incredible gym and spa (the mens locker has a fantastic steam room). All brand new, super clean, and superbly styled.
Two bars (one in the lounge and one in the main restaurant, which is quite good) plus a wine and champagne boutique tasting room as well as a “kids play room” round out this small gem of a hotel.
The service is impeccable. Mr. Travis Jay Wilson, who was my hotel contact, is a 5 star communications specialist — Mr. Wilson helped to make my recent stay quite memorable and attended to my every need, as did the rest of the staff.
I LOVE my suite.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HOTELS IN AMERICA!
If you go to San Francisco, THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY. END OF STORY.
