CLOS ST HUNE @MATSUHISA SAMURAI BAR IN LOS ANGLES

My friend and amazing novelist/wine and food writer Jay McInerney is in town, so Jay, Brett Easton Ellis, Christian Navarro, Bob Marx and I headed to to the private bar.

Xtian brought a fantastic bottle of 1978 Drouhin Richebourg from the private family library, which we all loved.  His 1990 Coche CC was not too shabby, either.

I brought a 1971 Dom Oenotheque, which has tasted better than ever — the flavors are beginning to resolve — it doesnt taste so “over the top fresh” (as some of us think the Oeno often does) — it is really in the zone — so I would try it now.

I also brought three bottles of the amazing Clos St Hune:  1973 (which was off the charts fantastic), 1983 (which was DQ), and 1989, which was very sweet, almost like a late harvest (v.t.).

As usual, The Masuhisa Samurai Private Bar is “the best private room in Los Angeles” according to one of the best chefs in the world, Eric Ripert.
